The Tale Of
The Potato Sack Princess

Once upon a time there lived a charming little girl named Heida. She was a happy child who lived with her parents and 14 siblings in the rural Icelandic community of Gimli, Manitoba during the Great Depression. Fortunately there was enough to eat but sacrifices had to be made and Heida's mother creatively fashioned the children's clothing from the fabric of potato sacks!  One day while out in the fields ... playing and day dreaming as little girls do,

Heida discovered a shiny object buried in the

dirt. To her surprise and delight, it was a metal hair clip. It wasn't anything fancy, even by 1920's standards, but to Heida it was a real Bobby Dazzler! She knew it was something very special... something that would set her apart from the other girls, even wearing her potato sack dress!!! Keeping her new found treasure hidden safely in her pocket, she hurried home to clean it. When Heida slid that cherished clip into her tousled blonde hair it was like a crown had been placed upon her head and she "felt like a million bucks!"

That was the day little Heida Einarson became royalty despite her circumstances... that was the day she became The Potato Sack Princess.

So in honor of my fashionable Granny Heida, I have found a way for you too to feel like Royalty. Simply slide one of my clips into your hair, or place a headband or hat upon your head like a crown... and take a moment to celebrate the Princess you truly are!!!

XOXO
